Introduction
Founded by Laurence and Dylan in Toronto, Canada, Rholend was born from a shared passion for creating timeless, high-quality pieces that feel both personal and lasting. As they set out to build their first collection, they knew finding the right partners would be key. We sat down with them to talk about their journey, their experience working with Motifs, and what it felt like to finally bring their vision to life.

What made you feel we were the right team to help bring your vision to life?
When Motifs reached out to us, we had already been working on Rholend for almost a year. We had just finished designing the brand identity and were starting to put our ideas on paper when it came to our first collection. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for us!
We had previously met with multiple agencies, offering similar services, but never felt like it was a good fit for our needs. After meeting with the team at Motifs, we instantly knew that they would be the right people to guide us through this new journey. We felt that they had the right expertise to help us achieve our goals and offer the right insights for us to be able to bring our vision to life.
When you first started this journey, what were you most nervous or unsure about?
We knew from the start that our own expertise and shared set of skills could only take us so far and that we would need the right partners in various areas to realize our vision to the fullest. The unknown of who we would work with made us nervous, but we learned to trust our gut feelings and work with who felt right. A big piece of the puzzle was trying to figure out how and where we were going to produce our first collection.
How did you feel having us by your side during design decisions, fittings, and factory visits?
Having the team present during those meetings brought a lot of reassurance in our process. The team always makes sure we are being the most efficient with our time and offers a structure to make each meeting incredibly productive. Motifs’ network of manufacturers allowed us to take our production to where we had always envisioned – almost like a secret key to the industry, allowing us to produce alongside brands that we have always admired.

Did you feel your vision was understood and translated clearly to the manufacturers? How did our involvement help?
Yes. Making sure that good communication was at the center of our collaboration definitely helped. Having the communication with the manufacturers taken off our plate was a big help when trying to juggle all of the aspects of launching a brand. We were able to count on our feedback being shared and distilled in terms that the manufacturers can understand, which made it easy for us to be more reactive.
Did having us manage that part of the process make it easier for you to focus on the creative side?
For sure. We have always put a lot of trust in the team expertise from a manufacturing and production standpoint. We were very lucky to have the guidance and the expertise in those areas since this was our first time doing these things.
What was your first reaction when you saw the full, finished products, how did your community/followers respond to the launch?
Everyone was very impressed! Our expectations were very high with this launch as it is our first time doing something like this. One of the most important things for us was to put out items with the highest standard when it comes to quality of the material and fit. We were happy that all of the hard work that we put in paid off and we were able to launch with beautiful pieces that surpassed our expectations.
